On Campus in 2025

These are all the parts that make up a typical week at Uni Bible Group. If you are in First Year or only on campus a few days, you should start with joining a hub and a lunchtime (Tues FIT, or Wed/Thurs Bible Talks).

Working out your Uni week

First Year

We're glad you're thinking about how to use your time at uni. We hope that these few hints and helps for organising your time will work to make the most of these years. Not everyone's uni time looks the same. Different uni courses provide different opportunities, but all uni students should use their time at uni to work out how to live with Jesus as Lord in everyday life.

You may not have as much free time as other students to meet people and throw yourself into uni life. But there's still opportunity for you to grow in knowing the Bible and Jesus alongside others. If there's only one or two hours you have free at uni, consider joining:

  • A Hub activity
  • Bible Talk

Keep in mind when these Uni Bible Group ministries are on when you are finalising your timetable to avoid clashing.

A fuller week on campus means you will have more gaps in your timetable with freedom to navigate a few more options at uni beyond your degree. Flexibility and freedom in your week is a once-in-a-life opportunity that uni provides. Being able to make new friends and explore options beyond your study is great. You will probably have time to join a couple of things in Uni Bible Group:

  • Bible Talks
  • 2 Hub activities (e.g., small Bible Study group and a Hangout time)
  • Prayer Time

Second Year and Up

If you’ve completed first year at Uni, you likely have a good sense of your timetable, your course, and life outside uni. This is a great time to deepen friendships and make the most of uni life. Whether you’re starting fresh, returning after a break, or changing courses, focus on meeting people in your classes or joining Uni Bible Group (Bible Talks, Hubs, FIT, etc.). Jobs will always be there, but this is a unique time to grow in relationships and in knowing God’s Word with others.

You won't have lots of free time at uni. If you didn't get to Bible Talks much last year, then make that a priority. If instead you didn't get to FIT last year, then add that to your timetable first.

With more time on campus and freedom to do a few things, include something which will help others grow. For example, this year learn how to lead a one-to-one. Ask your Hub leader to mentor you in a one-to-one. Your Uni Bible Group involvement could look like:

  • One-to-one mentoring (in your Hub)
  • FIT
  • Prayer Time

All the details

It takes some thinking through to develop your uni timetable, especially with all the great options around uni. Here's some tips with Uni Bible Group in mind:

  • Make sure your time at uni includes some time between Tuesday to Thursday so that you can be involved in a Hub. Hubs are where you can easily meet others, in small groups, discovering the Bible together.
  • Choose a Bible Talk time to go to regularly (12:30-1:30 on Wednesday or Thursday).
  • Look out for one-off socials and camps as they fit in.
